Would this be pedantic and self importantly fatuous enough to actually write down?
The tremorous glistening creative overlay of consciousness, that delicate ephemeral understanding, is beautiful. Looking back along different paths I’ve spent months following, long quiet inner journeys that have become finished art, is almost like I’m in a waking dream.
The skein of awareness planing an aesthetic grain, vision constrained by my own very particular congenital lenses, over time in the studio become longitudinal meditations. Meditations manifested in the form of finished art pieces.
I can spend months using pencils and paint while quietly pursuing thoughts and colour and form and tone, and feel my life has been time well spent. I’m lucky that way. I’m that rare artist who’s married to his patron. Which means my work is supported, leaving it disconnected from the need to earn money. I can do what I want when I want. The creative act these days is almost entirely about the process as I muse about my vision. I do like to show my art and I’m happy to sell it, and I appreciate hearing the insights other people share with me. But really, I’m more interested in being in front of an easel, developing skill sets that help clarify my vision, than I am spending huge amounts of time working Social Media. I just can’t see working Social Media, it plays no part in being a critical part of my being an artist.
(btw what is it with all the Social Media art posts showing an artful array of the pencils & pens used to create? Once and a while is fun, always becomes something else to me.)
