My work is process driven. In a drawing that means I go back and forth, line over line, different erasers, some graphite powder and then line over line again. I am with the work for a long time. It is like I have a conversation with it, and develop a deep and quiet relationship. The marks on the paper come together into a language unique to that piece. Sometimes I can feel I have made a common ground, where stories from within other people, from within pretty well everyone, can be found. While viewers are feeling their stories come alive within these drawings, my time spent creating them unites with the audience’s time into the unique conversations of art.
