Life figure drawing is a practice I don’t engage in as often as I’d like, yet it’s essential to my artistic growth. Studying the human form—both the face and the body—is fundamental to mastering the skills required in my work. The face is the first place we connect with others, while the body represents how we live, work, and navigate the world. Both are rich with meaning and worth the time and effort an artist invests in capturing them.
Drawing the face and figure sharpens the eye and hand, helping to develop a deeper understanding of form and anatomy. This practice not only enhances technical skills but also informs our personal observations, creating a bridge between the social and individual aspects of our existence. Sketching ourselves and others fosters connection, enriching both our art and our understanding of the human experience.
